About PhotoVoice project

What is PhotoVoice project?

Photovoice is a type of  visual participatory action research in which participants use imgaes and/or videos to show their environments and experiences as well as  to express their views  about them.

What is the purpose of PhotoVoice project?

This PhotoVoice project will use photographs shared by participants to document migrants’ experiences of obtaining and taking antibiotics. This will make it easier to share information about antibiotic use and AMR infections. This also supports the research on AMR knowledge gaps and how antibiotics are obtained and taken in UK migrant communities.

How does PhotoVoice project work?

You are welcome to digitally share photographs you have taken or take new photographs that show something about your migration experience or health needs, as well as a photograph of the medicines you keep at home.

We will then invite you to tell us a little bit about the photograph(s) you shared at the beginning of the interview or focus group. For example, you may tell us where you got the antibiotics from, how you use them, how often you use them, and why you use them. However, please feel free to add any comment or story that you find related and would like to share.

We will then invite you to tell us a little bit about the photograph(s) you share at the beginning of the interview or focus group.  For example, these comments may include telling where did you get the antibiotics from, how do you use them, how often do use them, and why do you use them. However, please feel free to add any comment or story you find it related and you would like to share.

However, whether you send photographs or participate in the interviews is entirely up to you (you do not have to take part in both parts). You can share photographs along with written descriptions or comments that you find useful.

Participants will also have the opportunity to have their photographs exhibited in their own communities as well as in a larger exhibition in the UK to facilitate knowledge transfer and discussion about AMR and antibiotics across the diverse communities of participants.

To share your photographs, please feel free to send them directly to the following email address or our social media accounts:
